The atmosphere at MHR can corrupt good priests and laypeople. We are all sinners. We have no desire to attack any person, clerical or lay, for the sake of attacking, but if we are to show the harm caused by the embracing of homosexuality at MHR, we must tell the truth.

Michael Nava is a San Francisco attorney who will be in a race for a judgeship in November, 2010. According to Most Holy Redeemer's June-September 2008 Eucharistic Minister schedule, Mr. Nava serves as an EM at MHR.

The "Nava for Judge" webpage tells us:

"Michael is also involved in the community as an active parishioner at Most Holy Redeemer and was a member of the board of directors of the GLBT Historical Society....In October 2008, just before Proposition 8 banned same-sex marriage, Justice Moreno married Michael and his partner, George Herzog, an oncology nurse."

By our count this makes eight persons serving in liturgical ministries at MHR whose "marriages" to persons of the same sex have either been admitted or published by reputable sources.

It will be good here to remind ourselves of Church rules.

From "Redemptionis Sacramentum" #46

"The lay Christian faithful called to give assistance at liturgical celebrations should be well instructed and must be those whose Christian life, morals and fidelity to the Church’s Magisterium recommend them."
